My life has not been Easy or Simple. Has yours?
But if there is one thing in my life that has never changed, it is God and my faith in him. That being said, one of my favorite things to do when I am feeling hopeless is to look into biblical "quotes" and scriptures about being hopeful and trusting in God. These always help me feel better and not be so pessimistic about the future. So, in this blog post, I will be sharing some of my absolute favorite bible verses about hope!
1. Bible quote Romans 8:28: Romans 8:28 says,
" And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." (KJV).
I love this verse because it applies to our real lives, even though it is biblical. If we are in God, then it means that automatically everything in our life will fall into place.
2. This quote by Marianne Williamson, you know the one:
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."- By Marianne Williamson
I would be remised if I did not include this quote. The bible also calls us to shine our light before men. However, that can be a nerve-wracking thing. So one of the most helpful things that can be done is to read quotes about the inspiration and hope we can give others if we allow our light to shine.
3. Bible Verse Hebrew's 1: Hebrews 1 says,
"For faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen."
This is an excellent verse because faith is our anchor and this verse also reminds us that when we have faith, we are automatically hoping for better, which will come and be seen at the right time.
4. There was an old quote by Creighton Abrams that I mentioned in (this post). It says,
"The best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time"
Why should this give you hope? Sometimes, problems and events seem insurmountable. However, with the one bite at a time theory, you can split tasks into smaller, more doable pieces and accomplish them. Taking one step at a time, in itself, should give you a sense of hope.
5. Bible verse Hebrews 10:23: Hebrews 10:23 says,
"Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful."
We know that things will change for the better when we hold on to hope despite the "swerving" of life.
6. "Everything in life is either a blessing or a lesson."
The quote is one of my favorite things because if we get this mindset, nothing we experience is wasted. Sometimes when life is going insane, this is one of the best things that you can remember for yourself.
7. A quote from the Big Book of AA:
"Nothing, Absolutely happens, in God's World by Mistake."
This quote was told to me by someone I admire and love. It comes from the Book of AA on page 417 (no, I am not an Alcoholic). Like #6, knowing that the things occurring to you are not happening for no reason should give you hope for the future.
8. Bible verse Jeremiah 29:11: Jeremiah 29:11 says,
"For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you plans to give you a hope and a future. "
Just knowing that God has a plan for our life that will be good and not harm us is a great reassurance to our faith.
9. The tunnel.
"There is always a light at the end of the tunnel."
I am not sure if this is a quote or one of those oral phrases passed down through my family for generations. But have you ever been crying yourself to sleep feeling incredibly hopeless, and the following day you feel like a million bucks? That is an example of how there is ALWAYS a light at the end of the tunnel. So do not give up. You got this.
10. "Just Do It"- Nike.
I believe that the reason that this quote became so popular is because it is so genius. It can be hard to have Hope when you cannot get anything done (see my post about How to find Inspiration to deal with this). Therefore, you may find your hope coming back when you start doing things that you want to do despite what other people think and despite judgment.
11. "Only in the dark can you see the stars"- Martin Luther King JR.
I feel like this quote can stand on its own.
Many other amazing quotes and bible verses relate to having Hope in a terrible situation. But if I listed every one of them, this post would be 11 pages long! Enjoying the post? Join my email list to be alerted of new content!
